The Armenian Relief Society of Western USA, Social Services Division is seeking a qualified candidate for a three-quarter time bookkeeper position at its main office in Glendale, CA.


Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the position is responsible for performing bookkeeping and accounting-related duties, as follows:

  • Preparing budgets for programs and grant proposals
  • Tracking budgets with multiple funding streams
  • Oversee general accounting duties, including payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger and work closely with organization’s accounting company
  • Review bank reconciliations
  • Prepare and submit monthly or quarterly invoices in accordance with funding agency requirements
  • Prepare and submit closeout reports in accordance with funding agency requirements
  • Comply with grant reporting requirements
  • Prepare monthly cost allocation schedule
  • Maintain employee financial records, including payroll and benefits
  • Administer employee benefits, including health/dental insurance
  • Process employee retirement contributions
  • Maintain inventory and purchase office supplies
  • Oversee bank transactions and prepare deposits
  • Prepare documentation for audit if/when necessary


  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting with non-profit knowledge
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, finance or accounting preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks
  • Additional proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles
