The ARS Shoushi Chapter was established in Las Vegas, Nevada, in May 1993. The chapter was named after the then cultural center of Artsakh, Shoushi, which was liberated one year prior to the establishment of the chapter. The main function of the chapter has been the establishment of the Saturday School, under the direction of the late Virgine Kouchakian. In 2010, the school moved to the Armenian community compound at 2054 E. Desert Inn Rd. in Las Vegas. Each Christmas, the chapter conducts toy drives for children under the custody of County Social Services. The chapter raises funds through luncheons, breakfasts, bazaars, picnics and the annual main event, the Valentine’s Dinner-Dance. The chapter provides “madagh” for the annual April 24th commemorations. The chapter has contributed funds for an athletic field in Shoushi in Artsakh, as well as to the American Red Cross for the September 11 tragedy in New York.

The relatively small chapter continues to serve the community, following the spirit of the ARS.
