The “Amaras” Chapter is named after the Amaras monastery a spiritual and educational center with turbulent history of construction and destruction, deeply connected with the Armenian alphabet being taught for the first time in the 5th Century in the Mardouni region of south-western Artsakh by St. Mesrob Mashdots, the inventor of the Armenian alphabet himself.
